Quang Ngai benefits from reforestation project

A reforestation project in central Quang Ngai province has made significant contributions to local socio-economic development and efforts to fight climate change.

Under theJapanese-funded project, which has been carried out in An Tho village ofPho An commune in Duc Pho district, dozens of hectares of willowforests were planted, stimulating local agricultural production andlivelihoods.

Pham Thi Cuc from the commune saidthanks to the willow forest, local residents are spared from flying sandand saltwater intrusion.

More than 2400 hectaresof protective forest have also been planted along coastline in thecommune, improving local biodiversity and protecting the coastalenvironment.

Deputy Chairman of the Pho Ancommunal People’s Committee Nguyen Tan My hailed the benefits of theproject, saying the locality will involve local residents in forestmanagement to ensure long-term outcomes of the project.

The project also invested in building facilities, including roads and guard towers, as part of the forest protection work.-VNA
