Quality of Vietnamese universities improves

Hanoi (VNA) – Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City has placedamong the top 25 universities and research institutes in the Association ofSoutheast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in terms of scientific research articles (ISI) publishedin the world's leading prestigious journals.

Vietnam’s solerepresentative on the list ranked 23rd with 2,373 ISI articlespublished during 2016-2018.

The NationalUniversity of Singapore topped the list with 24,074 articles, followed by thecountry’s Nanyang Technological University (20,049 articles) and the University ofMalaysia (12,263 articles).

Malaysia rankedfirst in terms of the most number of universities on the list with 11universities. Myanmar, the Philippines, Brunei, Laos, Cambodia did not have anyrepresentatives.

Recently,International University under the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi MinhCity (VNU-HCM) announced it had become the third Vietnamese university to meet universityquality assessment at the institutional level under the ASEAN UniversityNetwork – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA).

Earlier, theUniversity of Science under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-HN) andthe University of Technology under the VNU-HCM gained AUN-QA accreditation.

The AUN-QA networkis a group of chief quality officers appointed by the AUN’s member universitiesto harmonise educational standards and improve the quality of ASEANuniversities.

The evaluation isbased on 25 criteria and 111 norms, including some relatively new assessmentareas for universities in Vietnam such as intellectual property, riskmanagement and community services.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched
