Project on Mekong Delta’s mangrove forest protection continues

The Prime Minister has approved the second phase of the Integrated Coastal Management Programme (ICMP) which aims to protect the Mekong Delta coastal and mangrove forests.
The Prime Minister has approved the second phase of the IntegratedCoastal Management Programme (ICMP) which aims to protect the MekongDelta coastal and mangrove forests.

The projectwill be carried out from 2015 to 2018 at a total cost of 8.8 millionEUR (9.7 million USD). Of the sum, 4.4 million EUR was funded throughthe German Government and 3.6 million EUR from the AustralianGovernment.

The second phase is focused onforming a legal framework for developing measures to adapt to climatechange and promote green growth; provide stakeholders with technical andfinancial assistance for integrated coastal climate-resilient areaprotection; and establish a regional link and ecosystem-friendlyapproach in the region.

The first phase of theproject was implemented from 2011 to 2014 in the five regional provincesof An Giang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, Kien Giang and Soc Trang.-VNA

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.

Hundreds of trees plant⛎ed in Cuc Phuong National Park as part of Forestival

Renowned artists including Ha Anh Tuan, Den Vau, and Phan Manh Quynh, along with many directors and attendees, took part in planting hundreds of rare tree species such as mun (Diospyros mun) and cho chi (Parashorea chinensis) in the Thung Bong area of the Cuc Phuong National Park, contributing to forest ecosystem restoration.
