Project improves domestic violence prevention

A Spanish-funded project to promote domestic violence prevention has proved a success in Vietnam since it started two years ago.
A Spanish-funded project to promote domestic violence prevention hasproved a success in Vietnam since it started two years ago.

The assessment was agreed by participants at a meeting on October 10in Hanoi to review the communications project to promote theimplementation of the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention.

Over the past two years, the project, sponsored by the Spanish Agencyfor International Development Cooperation, has focused on raisingawareness of domestic abuse via publications and television programmes,along with improving the role of men.

The success of the work has helped change public understanding of domestic violence prevention and happy family building.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism grantedan insignia to Silvia Vaca Sotomayor, Head of the Spanish Agency forInternational Development Cooperation, for her contribution to theproject’s success.

She affirmed that she iswilling to continue sharing her experiences in gender equality withVietnam for its fair and sustainable development.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
