Project approved to boost information technology use in ethnic minority areas
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved a project on boosting the application of information technology to support socio-economic development and security in areas inhabited by ethnic minority groups during 2019-2025.

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime MinisterNguyen Xuan Phuc has approved a project on boosting the application ofinformation technology to support socio-economic development and security inareas inhabited by ethnic minority groups during 2019-2025.
The project aims to establish anelectronic system to provide ethnic minority people with information on theParty and State’s policies and laws, scientific-technological knowledge andother issues. The system will be gradually connected with information portalsof ministries, agencies and local administrations.
Digital technology will be usedto preserve the fine cultural heritage of ethnic minority groups, with the goalof 80 percent of information on traditional ethnic festivals and customs digitalized.The database on ethnic work will be upgraded to serve both State management andethnic people.
One important task set by theproject is to build a database on ethnic minority groups focusing on theirhistory, culture, festivals and customs, traditional products and geography oftheir residential areas.
Applications for smart phoneswill be developed to assist the popularization of policies and laws, and the warningfor natural disasters in ethnic minority areas.
The project looks to upgrade theIT infrastructure to serve State management work in the field of ethnic affairsfrom the central to local levels, ensuring safe and secure connectivity andinformation sharing among ethnic affairs agencies at all levels
A focus of the project is toprovide training on IT skills for ethnic minority people.-VNA
A club of doctors from the Vietnam Military Medical University are providing free medical checkups and medicine for impoverished people from ethnic minority groups in the central province of Quang Tri on July 18 – 19.
The second national congress of ethnic minority groups will be held in three days sometime around the end of the first quarter or beginning of the second quarter of 2020.
