Prime Minister witnesses debut of VinFast automobile models

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime MinisterNguyen Xuan Phuc participated in a ceremony launching the “Vietnamese goodsconquer Vietnamese people” programme and introducing new products of local automaker VinFast in Hanoi on November 20.

The event was jointlyorganised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Vingroup.

In his speech, PM Phuc highlighted the significance of the event, saying thatit helps encourage state-run and private enterprises, and household firms toincrease investment and technology application in production in order to improveproduct quality, towards conquering the potential domestic market of almost 100million people.

He stressed that in the context of deepening international integration, Vietnamhas become a leading country in export electronics, textiles, and footwear, howeverthe country does not have many international brands, especially in theautomobile industry.

The PM praised VinFast for its efforts in creating the first value chain of made-in-Vietnamautomobiles and motorbikes over just a short period of time, as well as thefirm’s plans to develop supporting industries, implement its commitments toconsumers, ensure regulations on environmental protection, especially inindustrial emission, and create more jobs for labourers.

He asked the VCCI, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and relevant agencies tocoordinate with associations and enterprises to effectively implement the “Vietnamese goodsconquer Vietnamese people” programme, which he described as the aspiration ofVietnamese people and enterprises to build Vietnamese brands, towardsdeveloping a self-strengthening economy.

At the event, Vingroup’s subsidiary, VinFast, presentedthree new automobile models, namely VinFast Lux SA 2.0 (SUV), VinFast Lux A 2.0(Sedan), and VinFast Fadil.

Its five-seat sedan Lux A2.0 and seven-seat SUV Lux SA 2.0, which had alreadybeen revealed to the public for the first time at the Paris Motor Show lastmonth, cost 1.818 billion VND (over 77,166 USD) and 1.366 billion VND (over58,303 USD), respectively.

The smaller hatchback Fadil, presented for the veryfirst time, costs 423 million VND (18,134 USD).
However, in response to the “Vietnamese goods conquerVietnamese people” movement, VinFast announced a special promotion programme, wherebythe prices for the models are 800 million VND (around 34,300 USD) for the VinFast Lux A 2.0,1.136 billion VND (48,600 USD) for the VinFast Lux SA 2.0, and 336 million VND(14,400 USD) for the VinFast Fadil.
These prices are exclusive of a 10 percent value addedtax.
The group said it would organise a similar ceremony to present these models in Ho Chi Minh Cityon November 25 and 26.–VNA
