Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received KevinMcAllister, Executive Vice President of the US’s Boeing Company and Presidentand Chief Executive Officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, in Hanoi onFebruary 27.

At the reception, PM Phuc expressed his delight at the cooperation between Boeingand Vietnamese airlines over the past time.

He said he just had a successful meeting with US President Donald Trump, whosaid he was impressed by the signing of aircraft purchasing deals worth up to21 billion USD between Boeing and Vietnamese carriers.

The Vietnamese Government leader thanked Boeing for its long-term cooperation withVietnam over the past years, especially providing technical support and maintenancefor Vietnamese airlines to enhance their flight safety and helping the nationalflag carrier Vietnam Airlines in opening direct flights to the US.

Kevin McAllister said as the aviation sector of Vietnam will develop stronglyin the time to come, Boeing wishes to collaborate with the country, not only inselling planes but also in technique, maintenance and airport infrastructuremanagement.

He congratulated Vietnam on obtaining the US certificate to enable its airlinesto fly to the US.

According to PM Phuc, Vietnam’s aviation development demand is huge as thecountry wants to purchase more new airplanes towards realising the goal ofluring 50 million international visitors per year.

He asked the two sides to enhance collaboration to raise the prestige ofVietnamese carriers. He wished that Boeing will help Vietnamese airlines inaircraft maintenance to raise flight safety.

Vietnam wishes to accelerate the launch of direct flights to the US, sayingthat this is a great opportunity for cooperation and exchanges in tourism andstudy between the two nations, he noted.

In reply, Kevin McAllister said Boeing is planning to expand the manufacturingof plane parts in Vietnam, vowing to provide more support for the country inthe coming time.

Also the same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception for MarkTucker, Group Chairman of the UK’s HSBC Holdings plc., during which hecongratulated HSBC for its successful operation in Vietnam, which greatlycontributes to the country’s economic development.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will make every effort to managepolicies to ensure macroeconomic stability, especially the monetary policy.

Affirming Vietnam’s attractive business and investment environment, Phucexpressed his wish that HSBC will develop new business areas in Vietnam andencourage investors of the UK and other countries to increase investment in theSoutheast Asian nation.-VNA
