Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has requested theGovernment Inspectorate inspect rice exports in recent times.

In a message sent to the inspectorate on April 20, PM Phuc said he wanted toclarify if there were signs of profiteering and negative actions in riceexports as well as press information reflecting the publicity and transparencyrelated to customs procedures for rice exports.

The inspection results must be completed and submitted to the Prime Minister inJune.

From now to June, exports of rice will take place as normal following Ministerof Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh’s proposal to allow an export volume of400,000 tonnes of rice in April and May each.

 Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung onApril 20 requested the supply of 100,000 tonnes of rice from the May quota torice exporters that have goods stuck at ports but could not open customsdeclarations in April.

The proposal was released at a meeting between the Deputy PM and relevantministries held in Hanoi to discuss rice exports amid the COVID-19 pandemic,drought and saltwater intrusion./.
