Prime Minister pushes textbook, curriculum reform

Moves to reform textbooks and the general education curriculum must be undertaken to reduce work overload among students, the Prime Minister said in an instruction.

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) –Moves to reform textbooks and the general education curriculum must beundertaken to reduce work overload among students, the Prime Minister said inan instruction.

The Ministry of Education and Training, localities, and relevant offices wererequested to review the educational curriculum along with teaching staff andschool facilities to carry out necessary reforms.

Textbooks should meet the requirement of reducing information overload amongstudents in terms of scientific and practical knowledge.

Under the instruction, individuals and organisations are encouraged toparticipate in textbook compiling.

The planned reforms also include changing teaching methods as well as studentevaluation procedures and examinations.

The Ministry of Education and Training was requested to establish standards forteachers and principals and to evaluate the qualifications of teachers and educationalstaff.

The ministry was also required to provide further training for teachers andeducational managers to effectively implement plans for educational reform.

Local education chapters were asked to use their budgets effectively and tomobilise other financial sources to help schools switch to 𒆙the new textbooksand curricula.-VNS/VNA
