Davos (VNA) –
Prime Minister NguyenXuan Phuc received leaders from many world leading multinational corporationson the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2019 in Davos on January 23(local time).

At a reception for CEO of Apple Tim Cook, thePrime Minister congratulated the group on its successful business activities inVietnam over the past time and expressed his support for the establishment ofan Apple data centre in Vietnam.

The PM hoped the group will continue investingeffectively and transparently in Vietnam in the long run as well as serve as abridge for US enterprises to increase investment in the Southeast Asiancountry.

Meeting CEO of AB Inbev Carlos Brito, PM Phuchighly appreciated the group’s investment in Vietnam and affirmed that theVietnamese government is stepping up efforts to restructure the economy towardssustainable development, and improve the business and investment environment.

The PM asked the group to lobby the EuropeanUnion for quicker approval of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) tofacilitate stronger cooperation between Vietnamese and European enterprises.

During a reception for Magesvaran Suranjan,President at Procter & Gamble, PM Phuc hailed the group’s operation inVietnam and suggested it continue expanding business in the country.

At his talk with CEO of Adidas Kasper Rorsted,the PM thanked the European business community, including Adidas, for cooperatingwith and supporting Vietnam in the negotiation process of the EVFTA.

The PM expressed his confidence that once theagreement comes into force, bilateral trade and investment activities willfurther develop, bringing benefits for the two sides’ people and businesses.

Receiving Carlsberg’s President and CEOCees’t Hart, PM Phuc hailed the corporation’s business success in the pasttime. He stressed that together with other foreign groups, Carlsberge has madesignificant contributions to the equitisation process of the beer, alcohol andbeverage industry in Vietnam.

He hoped that Carlsberg will join efforts to accelerate the EU’s ratificationof the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), helping open up newopportunities for businesses from both sides.

Talking to Facebook’s Vice President Nick Clegg, the Vietnamese Governmentleader asked the company to cooperate with Vietnam to develop its IT sector,particularly in assisting start-ups and small and medium enterprises in accessinginformation and developing their business via social network.

Regarding the recent cases involving the spread of false information on thesocial network, PM Phuc asked Facebook to fully abide by Vietnameseregulations, and improve its management as well as services for Vietnamesecustomers, especially the authentication mechanism to prevent tampering.

At a reception for Executive Vice President at Sanofi’s External AffairsKathleen Tregoning, PM Phuc praised the firm’s projects in Vietnam, which helpedprotect and improve Vietnamese people’s health.

He wished that Sanofi will continue technology transfer in the production of medicines,vaccines, and biological medicinal products while improving product quality andreducing medicine prices to make it accessible for all citizens.-VNA
