Manila (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his spouse, and a Vietnamesehigh-ranking delegation arrived at Ninoy Aquino international airport in thePhilippines’s Manila capital city on April 28, for their participation in the30th ASEAN Summit and related meetings.

The participation is made at the invitation of Philippine President Rodrigo RoaDuterte.

Prime Minister Phuc is scheduled to have several bilateral meetings withleaders from other ASEAN member countries on the day before an opening sessionof the two-day Summit.
 
He will attend the opening ceremony, the plenary session and the closing ceremony ofthe 30th ASEAN Summit. He will also take part in a meeting between ASEANleaders and representatives of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

The 30th ASEAN Summit, under the theme “Partnering for Change, Engaging theWorld”, is expected to see the presence of leaders of the 10 ASEAN membercountries. It is the first summit in 2017 under the Philippines’s ASEANchairmanship.

The summit is set tofocus on such priorities as effectively implementing the ASEAN Community Vision2025 and accompanied plans; enhancing ASEAN’s connectivity, solidarity,consensus and central role; increasing the bloc’s relations with partners; anddiscussing regional and international issues of shared concern.-VNA
