Hanoi (VNA) – Price of material shrimp, especially tigerprawn, was on the rise in August, said the Ministry of Agriculture and RuralDevelopment.
The surge is attributed to increasing demand of aquatic product processingplants due to a shortage of material shrimp.
In Bac Lieu, for example, the price of tiger prawn roseꦜ 20,000 VND against lastmonth to 215,000 VND while that of꧒ white leg shrimp slightly climbed1,000-3,000 VND to 130,000 VND per kilo.
Raining in August made a huge change in pond temperature, resulting in adrop in salinity level. Sudden change of weather also weakened shrimp’sresistance and growth.
However, local authorities have increased monitoring of breeding facilitiesand warning of diseases on aquatic products, ensuring stable growth of brackishwater shrimp.
Breeding are🍌as for brackish water shrimp nationwide reached more ꦍthan679,000ha in eight months, a rise of 4.2 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, white-legshrimp farms covered 63,000ha and that of tiger prawn was 580,900ha.-VNA
