President’s China trip for Belt and Road Forum a success: Foreign Minister

Beijing (VNA) – President Vo Van Thuong and his entourage’s trip to China to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for InternationalCooperation (BRF) has been a success, achieving the set goals and contributingeffectively to the enforcement of foreign policy set by the 13th National Party Congress, said Minꦏister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.
During an interview granted to the press following the trip, Son said it marked the first multilateral diplomaticactivity of President Thuong this year. Through the forum and sideline activities,Vietnam has affirmed its consistent foreign policy of being a friend, areliable partner and a responsible member of the international community, and clearstance on support for multilateralism and initiatives that promote peace,cooperation and development in the region and the world, he said. According to him, Vietnam together with other ecountries shared experience and discussed cooperation orientations for emerging and widely-concernedtopics such as digital transformation, green development, and economicconnectivity, contributing to building world and regional economies that aremulti-connected, open, inclusive, sustainable, with people at the centre. The Vietnamese ministries and agencies alsohad the opportunity to further enhance cooperation with partners from variouscountries. The outcomes of this forum will support the implementation ofVietnam's "Two Corridors, One Belt" framework and China's "Beltand Road Initiative".
During the two-day forum, President Thuongmet with many heads of state and governments, the UN Secretary-General, andleaders of several international organisations, during which partners expressedtheir appreciation for Vietnam's role and position, and their desire to boost substantivecooperation with Vietnam, expand and deepen ties across economy-trade, sci-tech,education, cultural and people-to-people exchange.
Son said it was also the firsttime President Thuong had engaged in bilateral meetings with high-ranking ChineseParty and State leaders as head of the Vietnamese State. Thesemeetings 🍸were part of a series of high-level interactions between leaders ofboth Parties and countries since the beginning of this year in the context of celebrationsfor the ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ15th anniversary of Vietnam-China comprehensive strategiccooperative partnership.
In particular, the visit contributed tofurther concretising the visit of historic significance by Party General SecretaryNguyen Phu Trong to China in October 2022. Specifically, he said it has maintained theupward trend of and added new positive momentum to the stable and healthydevelopment of Vietnam-China relationship, raising common awareness of majormeasures to cultivate substantial cooperation in various areas,and continuing to bolster traditional friendship and strengthening thefoundation of public opinions conducive to the development of bilateral ties. The minister further said that both sides agreedto seriously follow the common perceptions reached by top leaders, adhere tointernational law, effectively manage and properly handle differences,contributing to maintaining peace and stability in the region./.

Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping on October 20 while in Beijing to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
President Vo Van Thuong and his entourage arrived in Hanoi on October 20 afternoon, successfully concluding their trip to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) from October 17-20, at the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President of China Xi Jinping.
Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Party chief underscored the need for the press to innovate relentlessly, evolve to keep pace with the country's development, transform into a truly professional, humanistic, and modern sector that serves the cause of the Party, the State, and the people on the path to national construction and development.
The UN Secretary-General praised Vietnam’s remarkable achievements in socio-economic development and international integration in recent years, noting that the country has emerged as a model in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting international peace and security, and engaging in key UN processes.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.
Deputy PM Le Thanh Long proposed countries promote shared values, including building trust, sincerity, and solidarity among nations and peoples; fostering cooperation spirit and responsible behaviour as well as upholding international law and the UN Charter; and placing people at the centre and as the goal, the key player, and the driving force of all policies.
The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
