Minsk (VNA) – Right after his arrival in Minsk onJune 26, President Tran Dai Quang met representatives of the Belarus-VietnamFriendship Association (BVFA) and Belarusian veterans who helped Vietnam inwartime.
President Quang expressed his gratitude toBelarusian veterans who were sent to Vietnam from the former Soviet Union tohelp the country fight for independence and freedom.
The President said the association has helped increasesolidarity and mutual understanding between the Vietnamese and Belarusianpeople.
He said the Belarus-Vietnam FriendshipAssociation and the Vietnam-Belarus Friendship Association should enhance theexchange of visits, share experience and educate young generations of the twocountries to continue the bilateral friendship.
President Quang expressed his delight at thedevelopment of friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam andBelarus over the years, particularly in politics, economy, national defense andsecurity, science-technology, culture, education and training, and tourism.
Notably, the free trade agreement betweenVietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) created a strong momentum ineconomic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, he noted.
Representatives of the Belarus-VietnamFriendship Association and Belarusian war veterans congratulated Vietnam on itsachievements in national construction and development.
They committed to strive to boost friendshipbetween the people of the two countries, contributing to promoting traditionalties and cooperation between Belarus and Vietnam.
Later on the same day, President Quang and hisentourage met the Vietnamese Embassy’s staff and representatives of overseasVietnamese and students in Belarus.
He reiterated the Party’s and State’s consistent policy ofregarding the overseas Vietnamese community, including those in Belarus, as anindispensable part of the Vietnamese nation and an important source for the nationaldevelopment.
President Quang hoped the embassy will continuedisseminating the Party’s and State’s external policies and propose measures tofurther multi-faceted cooperation with Belarus.
The prioritised mission in the coming time is to coordinate withBelarus to boost the effective implementation of the Vietnam-EAEU free tradeagreement to increase the bilateral economic and trade partnership, he stressed.-VNA
