Hanoi (VNA)♚ – The Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh and the nearby Monument for Heroic Martyrs in Hanoi will be closed from June 10 to August 12 for the yearly maintenance, according to its management board.

Since its inauguration in 1975, the resting place of the founder of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, has been a magnet to both Vietnamese and foreigners.
This year, more than 61,000 people, including 3,919 foreigners, paid tribute to the late President at his mausoleum during the five-day National Reunification (April 30) and May Day (May 1) holidays, starting from April 27. President Ho Chi Minh passed away on September 2, 1969. His body was embalmed and placed in a glass coffin inside the granite mausoleum. The mausoleum has become an important landmark of the capital city and is integral to the political and social history of Vietnam./.
