Polish architect remembered in Hanoi

A ceremony was held in Hanoi on March 23 to mark the 20th death anniversary of Polish architect Kazimierz Kwiatkowski, who made great contributions to preserving and restoring Vietnam’s cultural heritages.

Hanoi (VNA) – A ceremony was held in Hanoi onMarch 23 to mark the 20th death anniversary of Polish architect KazimierzKwiatkowski, who made great contributions to preserving and restoring Vietnam’scultural heritages.

Addressing the event, Polish Ambassador to VietnamBarbara Szymanowska said the architect made Poland involved in Vietnam’s heritageconservation efforts.

According to the diplomat, between 1980 and 1997, Kazimierz Kwiatkowsk and hiscolleagues worked to embellish and conserve Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary in the central province of QuangNam province, and the Complex of Hue Monuments inthe central province of Thua Thien-Hue.

Nguyen The Hung, General Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage underthe Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the Polish architectcontributed to tightening the Vietnam- Poland relations, especially in relicconservation.

At the event, the book “Kazimierz Kwiatkowski(1944-1997) – Memory of a special man” by Polish writer JacekMatuszak was introduced to participants, highlighting the architect’s dedication to theclose relations between the two countries.-VNA
