PM urges Vietnamese expatriates in Europe to promote solidarity

Vienna (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with representatives of the Unionof Vietnamese Association in Europe (UVAE) and the Vietnamese Association in theCzech Republic (VAC) in Vienna, Austria, on October 15. 

The UVAE was set up in October 2016, aiming toconnect Vietnamese associations in European countries. 

At the meeting, PM Phuc applauded efforts andachievements of the UVAE and the VAC with various activities held in hostcountries, and urged them to encourage Vietnamese abroad to abide by local lawsand support each other. 

The leader said he will assign relevantministries and agencies to step up measures to improve the efficiency ofVietnamese language teaching and learning among overseas Vietnamese, thuscontributing to preserving traditional culture and enhancing solidarity betweenVietnamese expatriates. 

Nguyen Duy Nhien, a UVAE member and VAC President,said large-scale activities launched by the association have been spread inEuropean countries. Besides, the association has organised a range of activitiesin support of the homeland. 

PM Phuc, his spouse and a high-rankingdelegation of Vietnam arrived in Vienna in the afternoon of October 14 (localtime), beginning an official visit to Austria at the invitation of his Austriancounterpart Sebastian Kurz. 

Austria is the first stop of the PM during histrip to Europe, during which he will also pay official visit to Belgium andDenmark, make a working visit to the European Union and attend the 12th ASEMSummit (ASEM 12) and the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030Summit (P4G).-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
