PM receives Lao Minister of Science and Technology
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has hailed the current Vietnam visit by Lao Minister of Science and Technology and Chairman of the Lao National Scientific Institute Boviengkham Vongdara for contributing to lifting ties between the two countries.

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister NguyenXuan Phuc has hailed the current Vietnam visit by Lao Minister of Science andTechnology and Chairman of the Lao National Scientific Institute BoviengkhamVongdara for contributing to lifting ties between the two countries.
During a reception in Hanoi on May 14, PMPhuc said during the 40th meeting of the Inter-Governmental Committee, bothsides agreed on the 2018 cooperation programme and directed ministries andlocalities to realise it to achieve goals set by the two governments.
He said Vietnam is paying attention to improvingthe capacity of science-technology staff and infrastructure for scientificstudies, including basic and applied sciences in service of socio-economicdevelopment.
The PM spoke highly of cooperation betweenthe Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Lao Ministry of Scienceand Technology in general, and the Lao National Scientific Institute inparticular, especially the outcomes of the first stage of the officialdevelopment assistance-funded project “Strengthening scientific study capacityand technology for the Lao National Scientific Institute”.
The host asked both sides to continue studyingtechnologies used for Lao socio-economic development as well as implementing researchon the mitigation of impacts of natural disasters in the two countries.
PM Phuc said the Vietnamese government willsupport Laos in carrying out the second stage of the project, firstly improvingthe capacity of scientists, adding that Vietnam is ready to create favourableconditions for Laos to conduct scientific research in Vietnam and partner withVietnamese scientists and experts to contribute to Lao socio-economicdevelopment.
Boviengkham Vongdara, for his part, expressedwish to continue receiving support of the Vietnamese PM and agencies concernedin the implementation of the project, thus making important contributions toimproving research capacity of the Lao National Scientific Institute.-VNA
