Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc speaks at the ceremony (Photo: VNA) Hai Phong (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on May 3 attended a launching ceremonyfor a project to preserve a historical relic in Cao Quy village, Lien Khecommune, Thuy Nguyen district, the northern port city of Hai Phong.
The project, whichalso include the construction of a 3.5-km road linking a highway to the30,700-sq.-m relic site, totally costs 427 billion VND (18.6 million USD). Thesite will house an exhibition centre with many historical objects locallyunearthed to be put on show.
Speaking at theceremony, PM Phuc recalled the three glorious military victories againstforeign invaders on the Bach Dang river section which runs through thelocality. He described the one in 1288 against the Yuan-Mongol army as representingthe power of the people’s war, heroism, staunch will and solidarity of theVietnamese nation.
The Cao Quy relic,together with others related to the Tran dynasty in nearby Quang Ninh and HaiDuong provinces, serves as a source of invaluable material for deeper researchinto Vietnam’s history, the leader said.
He also spoke highlyof the important role and work by historians and archaeologists for their discoveryof the site and studies into the part of history which it relates to.
The site was recently discovered withmany trunks planted on the bed inclined to the upper reaches of the river.Historians believe this is the tactic of the Tran dynasty to defeat the fleetof the invading Yuan-Mongol army./.
