Hanoi (VNA)🔜 – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has called for joint efforts to build a learning society and support talent to boost Vietnam’s integration.
He made the remark at a celebration of the 20th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education (VAPE) in Hanoi on September 21.
In his speech, the PM applauded the association’s achievements such as expanding its activities to all towns, villages, families and businesses across Vietnam. The VAPE has focused on building a learning society at grassroots levels through promoting a fondness for learning.
The VAPE has coordinated with education agencies, social organisations and local authorities to set up community-based learning centres in 98 percent of communes, wards and towns nationwide.
It has also expanded study encouragement funds to grant scholarships and awards for disadvantaged children and those who perform well academically. The Nhan Tai Dat Viet (Vietnamese Talent) Awards were also established to honour role models in studying and working, he added.
PM Phuc asked the whole of society to work together to promote life-long learning.
VAPE Chairman Nguyen Manh Cam said the association will support both formal and informal education to encourage people to study. It will continue to assist the continuing education system for people of working age and the elderly.
