PM approves ecological complex in Hai Phong

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the building of a 1 billion USD "ecological" complex on Vu Yen Island in northern Hai Phong city.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the building of a 1 billionUSD "ecological" complex on Vu Yen Island in northern Hai Phong city.

Theproject had been proposed by real estate developer Vingroup, first tothe Ministry of Construction and then the Prime Minister.

Theisland will be developed into an "ecological zone" with villas, a36-hole golf course, and amusement parks. The complex, with aninvestment of 22,700 billion VND (more than 1 billion USD), will bespread over an area of ​​872ha in the districts of Thuy Nguyen and HaiAn. The site is crisscrossed by three different rivers – Ruot Lon, BachDang and Cam.

PM Dung has directed the Hai Phong city People'sCommittee to work closely with the Ministry of Construction and otherrelevant agencies to ensure that regulations are followed in choosingthe project investor.

He has also asked the ConstructionMinistry and other agencies to supervise construction of the complex,ensuring again that all relevant laws are followed and the projectproceeds apace.

Hai Phong Chairman Le Van Thanh said the islandhad a prime location that would serve the city's development in thefuture. He said the complex would not only serve local demand, but alsoattract more tourists to the city.

He added that to attract morevisitors, a luxury marina, dock, five-star hotel, a casino and a cablecar system should be added to the project plan.-VNA
