Plan presented for Northwest ethnic, religious affairs

The Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs and the Steering Committee for the Northwestern Region have sought to maximise their coordination in ethnic and religious affairs in 2014.
The Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs and the Steering Committee forthe Northwestern Region have sought to maximise their coordination inethnic and religious affairs in 2014.

They will alsocoordinate with each other to implement a strategy on ethnic affairs by2020 and build a project on sustainable socio-economic developmentmodels in the Northwestern, Central Highlands and Southwestern regions,and another on human resources development among ethnic minorities by2020, heard a conference in Hanoi on March 5.

Both will workas advisors for the Political Bureau, the Party Central Committee’sSecretariat and the Government on ethnic affairs, especially those toimprove living standards of free migrants in the Central Highlands andNorthwestern regions.

The publicising of the Party’spolicies and guidelines and the State’s laws towards ethnic groups alsoreceives more attention from the two committees, according to theconference.

Apart from patriotic movements and new-stylerural area building programme, the cooperation plan focuses on thebuilding of the political system in the Northwestern region.

Last year, the two committees significantly contributed to helping spurlocal socio-economic development, reduce poverty, improve people’sliving standards and ensure political security and social order in theregion.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
