Plan for Hanoi’s first metro line test run rebuilt

Hanoi (VNA) – The plan for the trial run of the Cat Linh-Ha Dongurban railway project, Hanoi’s first metro line, must be rebuilt as the datefor the test run in October has passed, according to Deputy Minister ofTransport Nguyen Ngoc Dong.

Dong said that the plan will be organised based on equipment and trainsreceived, which is influenced by disbursement from China’s Eximbank.

“The Ministry of Justice and relevant ministries are completing procedures toput forth the disbursement”, Dong said.

As of November 24, five out of 13 trains for the railway had been delivered toHanoi.

The 13 kilometre elevated railway project began in 2011 with investment of 552million USD. However, in November 2014, it was announced the project would needa total of 868 million USD, 300 million USD more than initial estimates.

In total, the project includes 12 stations and a depot in Phu Luong ward, HaDong district.

Constructed by the China Railway Sixth Group Co., Ltd, the line is set to havecapacity to operate 13 trains with carrier frequency of every two minutes and amaximum speed of 80 kilometres per hour.-VNA
