Nguyen Van Hau, Chairman and CEO of Phuc Son Group, was charged with giving bribes and violating bidding and accounting regulations, causing serious consequences. He received a combined jail sentence of 30 years - 14 years for bribery, nine years for the bidding violation, and seven years for accounting irregularities.
Phuc Son Group on July 3 made an additional payment of 768 billion VND (approximately 29.3 million USD) to remedy damages in the criminal case involving its Chairman Nguyen Van Hau.
He acknowledged that the indictment from the Supreme People's Procuracy, which charged him with three offences - violating accounting regulations, causing serious consequences; violating bidding regulations, causing serious consequences; and giving bribes – is accurate, fair, and correct.
The cumulative misconduct by Nguyen Van Hau, Chairman and General Director of the Phuc Son Group JSC and his accomplices has led to extensive financial damage to the State, totalling over 1.16 trillion VND.
The Public Security Ministry’s investigation police agency on April 30 started legal proceedings against and detained former Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung for "abusing position and power while performing official duties", spokesman of the ministry Lt. Gen. To An Xo said at the Government’s regular press conference in Hanoi on May 4.
