Phu Yen conference presents information on external affairs, East Sea

The Foreign Ministry, in collaboration with the People’s Committee of central Phu Yen province, organised a conference providing information on external affairs and the situation in the East Sea on May 27 in the provincial capital of Tuy Hoa.

Phu Yen (VNA) - The Foreign Ministry, in collaboration with thePeople’s Committee of central Phu Yen province, organised a conferenceproviding information on external affairs and the situation in the East Sea onMay 27 in the provincial capital of Tuy Hoa.

Deputy ForeignMinister Le Hoai Trung, who is head of the National Border Committee, informed participantsof the regional and global situation, recent achievements in external affairs,and the existing situation in the East Sea.

In changingregional and global circumstances, he said, Vietnam maintains a peacefulenvironment to develop and build good relations with other countries, firmlysafeguards its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and consolidates itsinternational position.

With recent complexdevelopments in the East Sea, Vietnam remains determined to resolve disputes bypeaceful means and in accordance with international law, he stated.

He asked Phu Yen tothoroughly understand the importance of the East Sea as well as Vietnam’srights and interests in this water.

The provinceshould carry out measures to prevent illegal fishing, strictly manage fishingvessels to avoid violations in foreign waters, develop the marine-based economy,and attract more tourists./.
