Phu My township established in Bia Ria-Vung Tau province

A ceremony was held in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on May 18 to announce the National Assembly Standing Committee’s resolution on the establishment of Phu My township and its wards.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau (VNA) – A ceremony was held in the southernprovince of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on May 18 to announce the National Assembly StandingCommittee’s resolution on the establishment of Phu My township and its wards.

According to the NA Standing Committee’s Resolution No. 492/NQ-UBTVQH14,dated April 12, 2018, the district-level township of Phu My was founded,replacing Tan Thanh district. It covers an area of 333.84 sqkm and has apopulation of over 175,800 people.

The new township borders Ho Chi Minh City to the west, Ba Ria and VungTau cities to the south and Dong Nai province to the north. It includes fivewards of Phu My, Hac Dich, My Xuan, Phuoc Hoa and Tan Phuoc, alongside fivecommunes of Chau Pha, Song Xoai, Tan Hai, Tan Hoa and Toc Tien.

After the establishment of Phu My township, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province nowhas eight district-level administrative units, including five districts, atownship and two provincial cities.

Speaking at the ceremony, NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu said Phu My is anew township, therefore it should foster economic growth along with promotingsocio-cultural development and administrative reform, improving the quality ofeducation and healthcare services and bettering the spiritual life of localpeople.

Phu My needs to further enhance the Party and political system buildingwork, strengthen its leadership capacity and streamline the apparatus of the townshipand its wards and communes, Luu stressed.-VNA
