PetroVietnam remains among country’s top three largest firms

Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) remains one of the three largest enterprises in the country in 2021, the 14th year in a row, according to the VNR500 rankings unveiled by Vietnam Report JSC.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) remains one of the three largestenterprises in the country in 2021, the 14th year in a row,according to the VNR500 rankings unveiled by Vietnam Report JSC.

The list of the 500 largestbusinesses in Vietnam is topped by Samsung Electronics Thai Nguyen Co. Ltd. It was followed by Vietnam Electricity (EVN) group, and PetroVietnam.

The rankings were compiledbasing mainly on enterprises’ total revenues and other performance criteria suchas total assets, employees, growth rates, profits, and prestige on the media.

Despite the complex COVID-19situation that has adversely affected almost all businesses, thanks toeffective response measures, PetroVietnam has reportedly sustained operationsand supply of strategic products, helping to stabilise the market, guarantee thenational energy security, and contribute to the State budget.

In the first 10 months ofthis year, it contributed 75.4 trillion VND to the State budget, 21 percent highern than this year's target and up 23 percent from the same period of 2020.

It also achieved the targetof exploiting 9.72 million tonnes of oil in total on November 22, 39 days aheadof schedule.

Apart from the parent firm,many of its subsidiaries are also named in the VNR500 rankings, including PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (17th), PetroVietnam PowerCorporation (43rd), Vietnam - Russia joint venture Vietsovpetro (48th),and PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (56th)./.

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels. Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
