People-to-people diplomacy important to Vietnam-Morocco relations

Rabat (VNA) – National AssemblyChairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan received President of the Morocco-VietnamFriendship Association Elktiki Mustapha in Rabat on March 28 afternoon (localtime), during which she affirmed that bilateral people-to-people exchange is animportant diplomatic channel.

Ngan shared that her visit aims to boostand deepen friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries ingeneral and between the Vietnamese NA and the Moroccan House of Representativesin particular.

Elktiki Mustapha, in turn, stressed thesignificance of the Vietnamese top legislator’s official visit as it took placeon the occasion of the 58th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

He said that his association was set upright after the official visit to Vietnam by Speaker of the Moroccan House ofRepresentatives Habib El Malki in late 2017. It has established ties with theVietnam War Veterans’ Association.

He expressed his hope that Vietnam soonestablishes a Vietnam-Morocco Friendship Association, so that the twoassociations can intensify cooperation for better mutual understanding betweenthe two peoples.

He told Ngan that his association iscompiling a book highlighting similarities of Morocco and Vietnam to helpMoroccan youths understand more about the two countries’ histories. He said heis delighted when hearing that the Vietnam War Veterans’ Association has asimilar intention.

Mustapha affirmed that his association’smembers will do their utmost to further develop the bilateral relations.

The top Vietnamese legislator affirmed shewill work to speed up the establishment of the Vietnam-Morocco FriendshipAssociation after returning home.

She also stressed that the Vietnamese Stateand people hope to consolidate and strengthen friendship and cooperation withthe Moroccan State and people for practical interests and prosperity of the twonations, thus contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development inthe region and the world.-VNA
