Passenger traffic at airports plunges in August

The number of passengers going through airports nationwide only stood at 31,800 in August, down nearly 99 percent month-on-month, reported the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Hanoi (VNA)ไ – The number of passengers going through airportsnationwide only stood at 31,800 in August, down nearly 99 percentmonth-on-month, reported the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

The figure was only 10 percent of that recorded inJuly. Domestic carriers served 11,000 passengers in August, down 99percent from a month earlier. Of them, 2,000 were foreigners, down nearly 90 percentmonthly, and the remaining were domestic ones, marking a month-on-month decreaseof more than 99 percent.

Airlines were asked to minimise flights between Hanoi and localitiesunder social distancing order in line with the Prime Minister's Directive No.16/CT-TTg.

🧸 The CAAV also required the Vietnamese airlines to stop sellingtickets on domestic routes. Tickets for flights departing after July 21 will berepaid until further notice.

Meanwhile, flights carrying cargo remain unlimited. All passengers must show certificates proving they have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 via Realtime-PCR or rapid testing methods in line with the HealthMinistry’s regulations. The CAAV also sent a document to units concerned to requestensuring aviation security during the National Day holiday (September 2-5)./.

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels.
