Vientiane (VNA) – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited Lao formerParty chief and former President Khamtay Siphandone at his home on November 25.

TheVietnamese Party leader informed Khamtay Siphandone on the success of his talksand meetings during the official visit to Laos, stressing the forever closebond between Vietnam and Laos regardless of changes in the world situation.

He said thetwo countries will coordinate to organize activities marking the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship and the 40th year ofthe Vietnam-Laos amity and cooperation treaty in 2017.

GeneralSecretary Nguyen Phu Trong also told the host that the two countries havereached a consensus on bolstering cooperation and mutual assistance in developingtheir economy, building a pure and strong Party and working together atregional and international forums.

He askedthe Lao senior leader to continue promoting the special relationship of Vietnamand Laos.

The Laoformer Party chief thanked the Vietnamese Party, State and people for theirvaluable, timely and effective support, adding that he was glad that the twoParties and States always pay close attention to developing the special solidarityof the two countries.

The sameday, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Laoswhere he talked to the embassy staff and representatives from the overseasVietnamese community and Vietnamese investors.-VNA
