Party has cohesive vision on leadership over country safeguarding missions: officer
The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), specifically the Party Central Committee’s Politburo and Secretariat, have paid special attention to the leadership over the missions of safeguarding the fatherland and building national defence over the past five years.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), specificallythe Party Central Committee’s Politburo and Secretariat, have paid specialattention to the leadership over the missions of safeguarding the fatherland andbuilding national defence over the past five years.
The statement was made by Senior LieutenantGeneral Nguyen Trong Nghia, member of the Party Central Committee, member ofthe Central Military Commission and Deputy Director of the General Departmentof Politics under the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), on the sidelines of theongoing 13th National Party Congress.
According to Nghia, one of the moststandout achievements of the country is the Party leadership of the tasks ofsafeguarding the country and building all-people defence in the new era.
Regarding defence and military strategiesand those on security and nation safeguarding on cyberspace as well as thelegal system, Vietnam has issued several laws and continues amending andperfecting several other laws related to military and defence tasks, he said.
According to the officer, to promote theachievements gained in the 12th Congress tenure, the part on orientationsin the Political Report submitted to the 13th Congress continues todemonstrate a consistent inheritance along with new points on the missions ofsafeguarding the nation and building the all-people defence.
Many new viewpoints on military and defencestrategies continue to be concretised in Party documents, such as proactivelypreventing war early and from afar; maintaining the goal of defending the country,national independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity; protectingnational interests, the Party, the socialist regime and the people; maintaininga peaceful and stable environment for national development; promoting thesynergy of the whole nation, with the armed forces and the army in particular beingthe core.
“We have a closely cohesive vision, notonly between defence-security and diplomacy, but also between defence-security,diplomacy and socio-economic development, especially Party building,” Nghiasaid.
The Party exercises leadership over theprotection of the fatherland, with the key and decisive factor being continuingto maintain and strengthen the absolute and direct leadership in all aspects ofthe military and public security forces as well as the national safeguardingand defence-security cause, he stressed.
Upholding the tradition of the People’sArmy, the Party has defined the direction of building a regular, elite andmodern revolutionary army, he added.
Nghia said Vietnam has been able tomanufacture several kinds of weapons and military equipment and will continue withresearch and innovation work in order to ensure the army is capable offulfilling the mission of safeguarding the fatherland./.
