Hanoi (VNA)𓃲 – The 13th Party Central Committee commenced its 10th plenum in Hanoi on September 18 under the chair of Party General Secretary and State President To Lam.

In his opening remarks, Lam stressed that the session takes place at a special time as Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away, and the typhoon has caused huge human and property losses to almost northern localities.
The session, to last shorter than scheduled, will look into 10 contents of the two groups of strategic matters, and a number of specific issues, according to the top leader.
Regarding the 14th National Party Congress, he said, it marks the country’s entering a new era – the one of national advancement, and asked each member of the committee, and its Secretariat and Politburo to maximise their intellect and raise the sense of responsibility.
The leader stressed that the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress is the highest target of the entire Party, people, and army in 2025, which will serve as a foundation for the fulfillment of strategic goals marking the centennial of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) (February 3, 1930 - 2030), towards 100 years since the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - 2045).
These goals must be done with the highest determination, the greatest efforts, and drastic actions with the most effective solutions, he said, noting that it is the responsibility of the Party before the people, the history, and international friends, and is also an opportunity for the Party to prove its leadership, ruling capacity, and combat capacity.

Therefore, it is a must to maximise all resources and measures to complete the objectives, he emphasised.
Lam said the 2025 socio-economic development plan, which sets forth major targets, tasks, and solutions for the year, will be tabled for discussion.
For documents to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress, he highlighted a political report, one reviewing the 40 years of Doi Moi (Renewal) one on socio-economic development, and another on Party building and the implementation of the Party Charter. He also asked the committee to analsyse strategic breakthroughs for the next tenure, as well as strategic orientations and solutions.
Lam stressed personnel preparation for the 14th congress as a crucial and key task to the implementation of the Party’s policies and guidelines to drive the nation to the new era, and expressed his belief that the committee will well perform the work.
For Party building and Party Charter implementation, he urged the committee to evaluate its achievements as well as limitations, while raising proposals to better the work in the 14th tenure./.
