OVs join compatriots at home in celebrating National Day
The overseas Vietnamese showed their confidence that Vietnam will thrive as an independent, prosperous nation, standing shoulder to shoulder with international friends.

Hanoi (VNA) 🅘– Overseas Vietnamese communities across Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia joined their compatriots at home in celebrating the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025), with a strong sense of pride and patriotism.
In Vientiane, Lao people and members of the Vietnamese community gathered at the Lao National Cultural Hall to watch the live broadcast of the parade from Hanoi. General Chansamone Chanyalath, Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, hailed the event as a grand and historic occasion that reflected Vietnam’s remarkable development, particularly the growth of its armed forces under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He also extended deep gratitude for Vietnam’s longstanding and comprehensive support for Laos.
Saikhong Sainasin, Vice President of the Laos–Vietnam Friendship Association Central Committee, emphasised that Vietnam’s achievements over the past eight decades not only benefit its own people but also generate positive impacts for the Lao people.

In Phnom Penh, the Vietnamese Embassy, businesses, students and expatriates also came together to follow the live-broadcast celebration. For Chau Cong Hau, a postgraduate student at the Royal University of Phnom Penh, the day was an opportunity to reaffirm his Vietnamese identity and express his aspiration to promote the image of a peaceful, friendly, and dynamic Vietnam to international friends.
Similarly, 64-year-old Tran Van To in Chak Angre Krom ward expressed deep pride in the homeland’s steady progress despite having lived abroad for many years.

In Malaysia, President of the Malaysia–Vietnam Friendship Association Tran Thi Chang watched the celebration with friends, voicing her belief that Vietnam will continue to develop strongly while preserving its cultural traditions, ensuring that all Vietnamese remain proud of their origin. At the University of Malaya, lecturer Nguyen Thuy Thien Huong shared the joy of National Day with colleagues and expressed her confidence that Vietnam will thrive as an independent, prosperous nation, standing shoulder to shoulder with international friends.
In Penang, nurse Duong Thi Ry said she felt the spirit of unity and patriotism reaching overseas communities, and expressed her belief that overseas Vietnamese, wherever they live, will remain proud of their homeland and contribute to its continued development./.
