Hanoi (VNA) – A requiem to commemorate Vietnamese soldiers who laid down their lives to safeguard national sovereignty has been held in Truc Lam-Kharkov pagoda in Ukraine.
The event was co-organised by the Vietnamese Association in Ukraine and the War Veterans Association in the country.
It was chaired by Venerable Thich Gia Quang, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Board and head of Truc Lam-Kharkov pagoda, attracting representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine and Moldova, Buddhist dignitaries and followers, along with Vietnamese people in Ukraine.
At the ceremony, participants recalled the nation’s glorious history and paid tribute to Vietnamese martyrs, including 64 soldiers killed while safeguarding Gac Ma (Johnson South) Reef in Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago on March 14, 1988.-VNA
