Overseas Vietnamese in Angola meet on New Year 2018

Luanda (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in collaboration with theVietnamese People Community in Angola organised a get-together in Luanda cityon December 31 to celebrate New Year 2018.

Delivering New Year greetings to the overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in the hostcountry, Ambassador Nguyen Manh Cuong informed the OVs of the country’sstandout achievements in economy-society, foreign relations and globalintegration in 2017.

He highlighted joint efforts made by Vietnamese and Angolan governments tobolster bilateral cooperative ties and expressed his sympathy for the OVs overthe difficulties triggered by economic recession in Angola.

The ambassador thanked the OV community for their support for the homeland, andcalled on experts, businessmen and the OVs to continue to serve as a bridge topromote friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries.

For her part, Dao Lan Huong, standing vice chairwoman of the Vietnamese Associationin Angola, laid stress on the community’s contributions to the host country andthe homeland and informed the community’s action plan in 2018.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
