PhnomPenh (VNA) – Over 1,000 Cambodian poorpeople in Kep province and Vietnamese expats living in the coastal locality weregiven free check-ups and medicines during a charitable programme on May 12.

Theevent was organised by overseas Vietnamese doctors working in Chak Angre hospitalin the Cambodian province, in coordination with doctors from the provincialhospital and a hospital of the RoyalCambodian Army.

Director of Chak Angre hospital Le Ba Hung said the charitableactivity was funded by Vietnamese enterprises, Overseas Vietnamese firms operatingin Cambodia and the hospital.

In his speech at the opening ceremony of the event, Governor of Kep provinceKen Sotha highlighted the significance of the activity, especially at a timewhen the local health sector is meeting with difficulties.

Italso shows friendship and mutual support between the two countries’ people, hesaid.

The people were provided with services such as blood tests, ultrasoundexamination, electrocardiogram, general examination. They also received medicinesand advice on how to prevent diseases.

Those with difficult circumstances, who can’t afford intensive treatment, willhave their treatment funded by donors.

In recent years, many delegations of Vietnamese and overseas Vietnamese volunteerdoctors, enterprises and donors have provided free medical examination and medicinesfor disadvantaged Cambodians and OVs living in Cambodia, contributing to enhancingthe friendship between the two countries and their people in particular.-VNA
