Over 80 doctors to work in remote areas

Over 80 doctors have registered to join a pilot project designed to encourage young doctors to work in 62 remote and poor districts across the country, according to the Ministry of Health.
Over 80 doctors have registered to join a pilot project designed toencourage young doctors to work in 62 remote and poor districts acrossthe country, according to the Ministry of Health.

Before starting their voluntary work, the doctors will participate in an18-month training course in five departments and will benefit from manyother preferential policies.

Under the programme,registered doctors will be required to work at district medical unitsfor three years for males and two years for females.

The programme, designed to send about 500 young doctors to work indisadvantaged areas, will begin in 2016, aims to fortify the number ofhealthcare workers at the grassroots level, addressing the lack ofdoctors in remote areas.-VNA
