Over 4.5 billion VND raised to support children with heart diseases

More than 4.5 billion VND (193,826 USD) was raised for poor children with heart diseases through a text message campaign carried out by the Vietnam Television (VTV) and the National Humanitarian Portal 1400 from November 1 to December 30, 2019.

– More than 4.5 billionVND (193,826 USD) was raised for poor children with heart diseases through a textmessage campaign carried out by the Vietnam Television (VTV) and the NationalHumanitarian Portal 1400 from November 1 to December 30, 2019.

This is the biggest amount of money donated tothe “Heart for Children” programme through text messages during the over the programme’s11-year history.

All of the money will be used to fund surgeryfor poor under-16 children with congenital heart diseases nationwide.

Earlier, the programme coordinated with theVietnam Red Cross Society to carry out text message campaigns in 2012, 2013,2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.

More than 15 billion VND (647,295 USD) wasraised through these campaigns to help nearly 600 children across the country.

The “Heart for Children” programme was launched in2008 and has been operated by the telecom firm Viettel, the Tam Long Viet(Vietnamese Heart) Fund, and VTV.

Since then, the programme has funded surgery fornearly 5,200 children with heart diseases in the country./.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
