HCM City (VNA)🅰 – A volunteer campaign to support disadvantaged people on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) festival officially kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on January 10.

With the participation of more than 31,000 students from universities and colleges in the city, the event will run until February 6.
It includes key activities such as assisting students and patients with difficulties and street children, presenting gifts to social policy beneficiaries and soldiers and officers who are working in border and island areas. Voluntary blood donations, cultural exchanges and art performances in hospitals and social sponsoring centres will be arranged in the framework of the campaign.
According to Pham Van Linh, Vice President of the HCM City’s Association of Students, the campaign’s highlight is a programme to introduce the cultures and customs related to the traditional Lunar New Year festival of Vietnam and other countries.  The campaign also draws the participation of foreign students studying Vietnam, he said.-VNA
