Hanoi (VNA) – Outstanding farmers from 63 cities and provinces nationwide were honoured at a ceremony held in Hanoi on October 14 in the presence of President Tran Dai🎐 Quang.

The programme is a practical activity to encourage excellent farmers to modernise the agricultural sector, the President said.
He added that agriculture, farmers, and rural areas hold strategic position in the cause of national industrialisation, modernisation, construction and defence as well as play key role to spur socio-economic development, maintain political stability, ensure national defence-security, and promote cultural identities and environmental protection. The President noted that farmers make up nearly 70 percent of the country’s total population and 50 percent of the workforce.
He urged the Vietnam Farmer’s Union to increase campaigns on building new rural areas, preserving and developing craft villages, improving human resources training, and developing economic cooperatives. The Party and State will adjust policies to ensure social welfares for farmers and help them mitigate risks, he said. President of the Vietnam Farmer’s Union Lai Xuan Mon said the annual programme aim to honour outstanding farmers for their innovation in labour production, rural development, and national security and sovereignty safeguarding.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
