Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s firstastronomical observatory will be put into operation in March this year in thecentral province of Khanh Hoa.
The information was revealed by Director of the Vietnam National SatelliteCentre (VNSC) Pham Anh Tuan at a conference on the centre in Hanoi on January18.
Covering 343 sq.m in a rocky area called HonChong in Nha Trang city, the observatory is equipped with a space telescope of0.5m in diameter inside a dome that is 9m in diameter. The dome can accommodateup to 60 people who can observe space or watch movies about planets, stars andthe history of Earth.
The 5.3-million-USD station will serve basicstudies on optical astrophysics, disseminate knowledge of the universe in thecommunity, and support human resource training in astrophysics.
It will also promote cooperation with researchers at home and abroad in thefield.
The VNSC is hoped to become a leading modern scientific and technologicalcentre in Southeast Asia, meeting the demand of research and application ofspace technology in Vietnam to tackle natural disasters and climate change.
As part of efforts to improve the quality of itshuman resources to serve its development, in 2017, the centre will pay special attentionto training work, towards training about 250 skilled staff by 2020.-VNA
VietNEST (Vietnamese Nurturing Education for Science & Traditions) is a mobile app and digital platform for Vietnamese language learning among overseas children.
The networks bring together universities, research institutes and domestic and foreign businesses. Members will work closely in training, research, and technology transfer by sharing curricula, improving faculty capacity, providing access to laboratories and research facilities, and jointly implementing science and technology projects.

According to Cushman & Wakefield’s latest Asia-Pacific Data Centre Investment Landscape report, Vietnam now ranks second in the region for data centre investment returns, with a yield on cost (YoC) of 17.5–18.8%, just behind Singapore’s 21–23%.
Vietnam is taking drastic yet cautious steps in building a culture of nuclear safety and security, with the aim of having its first nuclear power plant operational by the end of 2030 and using this specific energy source effectively and sustainably.

The visit aimed to assess the new two-tier local government model, preparations for upcoming Party congresses at levels, and implementation of the Politburo’s Conclusion on school construction in border areas.
Under the theme “Breakthrough Era with the Development of Industrial Internet”, the event gathered over 400 delegates, including senior officials, leading Internet experts, and technology engineers from Vietnam and abroad.
