Norwegian Red Cross helps increase disaster response capacity

Hanoi (VNA) – The NorwegianRed Cross (NRC) has provided more than 7 million USD to help 21 localitiesnationwide cope with natural disasters and improve environmental hygiene overthe past 21 years.

The information was released at a recentmeeting in Hanoi to celebrate the 21-year partnership between the Red Cross ofVietnam and the Norwegian Red Cross.

According to the Vietnamese organisation,thanks to the NRC’s assistance, a project worth about 16 billion VND (704,000USD) has been carried out in 15 communes of the northern mountainous provincesof Ha Giang and Lao Cai, and central Nghe An province since 2015.

The project has aided more than 176,000 locals,helping them reduce the adverse impacts of disasters and improve theirlivelihoods.-VNA
