Hanoi (VNA) -🦋 The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has announced the list of 20 nominees for the final round of the Vietnamese Outstanding Young Face Award 2023.
Among the 20 nominees, there are six in the field of high-tech application and three in scientific research – creativity, all specialising in healthcare, said journalist Le Xuan Son, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong (Vanguard) Newspaper, Director of the Vietnam Young Talent Support Fund and standing member of the council of the Vietnamese Outstanding Young Face Award 2023.
The 2023 award received 171 nominations, comprising 115 young men and 56 young women from 58 units.
The oldest nominee is 37 years old and the youngest 12. The nominee with highest academic title holds a professor’s degree.
The 171 nominees study and work in ten fields, namely academic study, scientific research, production labour, business – startup, national defence, security, sports, culture and arts, social activities, and Government administrative management.
The individuals selected by the award’s council for the online voting round all have excellent achievements.
They include Pham Viet Hung, gold medal winner of the international mathematics contest for two consecutive years (2022 and 2023), and national sepak takraw (kick volleyball) athlete Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, winner of SEA Games and ASIAD gold and silver medals.
In the field of science and creativity, three young people nominated are Ha Thi Thanh Huong, born in 1989, head of Regenerative Medicine and Brain Health Laboratory, International University, Ho Chi Minh City National University; Pham Huy Hieu, born in 1992, lecturer at the Institute of Engineering and Computer Science, research expert and deputy director of VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Centre, and director of Entrepreneurship Centre (E-lab)-VinUni; and Ngo Quoc Duy, born in 1989, deputy head of Head and Neck Surgery Department, K Hospital.
Le Van Phuc, born in 2002, student of Social Population Geography - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, HCM City National University, was nominated in the social activity category for his charity work with ‘Fly To Sky’ team.
Vietnamese rapper Den Vau (real name Nguyen Duc Cuong), born in 1989, was nominated in the culture and art category.
There is only one child nominee - Dang Cat Tien (for the field of social activities), a 9th grader of Thai Nguyen Secondary School in Nha Trang city, the south-central province of Khanh Hoa.
🃏 Last year, she was selected to play the role of the National Assembly Chairman at the first "Children's National Assembly" mock session held at Dien Hong Hall, the Hanoi-based NA House.
Like the 2022 edition, the final round this year’s award sees no candidates in the category of Government administrative management.
An online vote from February 20 to 26 on the website www.tainangtrevietnam.vn will select the top 10 Vietnamese outstanding young people for 2023 and 10 young promising Vietnamese faces, which will be announced at a ceremony to be held in Hanoi from March 20 to 24.
