Noi Bai airport increases services during Tet holidays

Hanoi (VNA) – The Noi Bai International Airport will maintain from 50-54check-in counters and instruct passengers to carry out web check-in, mobilecheck-in and self check-in at kiosks to serve high demand during Tet (Lunar NewYear), a representative of the airport said on February 8.

The number of boarding gates at the airport’s Terminal 1 (which serves domesticflights) will increase to 16 while additional parking lots will be arranged atrunway S1 to cope with overloading during the Tet holidays.

The airport authorities will join hands with ground service firms and customsforce to speed up carousel and customs clearance, shortening theluggage-handling process, especially for international flights with largevolume of passengers.

The airport’s staff is ordered to have appropriate behaviour when contactingwith passengers.

Meanwhile, the repair of Terminal 1 will be halted from February 12 and thework will be resumed on February 21.

Measures will be taken to ensure social order and traffic safety at theairport.

Earlier, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (ACAV) ordered allairlines to obey safety regulations and improve operations to cut down flightdelays and cancellations.

Safety examinations must be paid due attention to the busiest airports like NoiBai, Vinh, Da Nang, Cam Ranh, Tan Son Nhat, Phu Quoc and Can Tho.

The airlines must coordinate with relevant agencies to penalise any violationsof security rules or unruly passengers.

Taxi and non-aviation services are not allowed to increase fees during theoccasion.-VNA
