Ninh Thuan (VNA)🍒 – The central province of Ninh Thuan will implement a campaign to give the measles–rubella vaccination to about 22,000 juveniles aged 16-17.
The plan targets to inoculate 90 percent of locals aged 16-17 living in the province against measles and rubella.
The vaccination campaign will be implemented in all the 65 communes, wards, and towns, said Nguyen Nhi Linh, Director of the provincial Preventive Medicine Centre.
According to the provincial Health Department, Ninh Thuan has not detected any cases of measles since the beginning of the year.
Last year, there were 20 cases of scarlet fever, suspected to be measles, and one confirmed measles case in the province.-VNA
The measles and rubella vaccine will be the twelfth vaccine provided through the national immunisation program, according to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE).
The nationwide measles-rubella vaccination campaign for eight months from September 2014 to May 2015 has provided free-of-charge immunisation shots to nearly 20 million children aged 1-14 years.
More than 335,000 children from 1-14 years of age in the northern mountainous province of Son La have received measles-rubella vaccination during a drive conducted between September 2014 and January 2015, it was reported at a conference in June 10.
Ho Chi Minh City from next month will implement a campaign to give the measles–rubella vaccination to about 124,000 people aged 16-17 from 24 districts in the city.
