Ninh Thuan grants investment licences to nine solar power projects
The People’s Committee of Ninh Thuan province has granted investment licences to nine solar power projects worth over 12 trillion VND (527.4 million USD).

Ninh Thuan (VNA) – The People’sCommittee of Ninh Thuan province has granted investment licences to nine solarpower projects worth over 12 trillion VND (527.4 million USD).
The construction of the projects will commencein the second and third quarter of 2018 and complete at the end of 2019 with acapacity of nearly 500 MW.
Speaking at the granting ceremony in the southcentral locality on May 31, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee LuuXuan Vinh urged investors to speed up the implementation of the projects andensure quality and labour safety.
They were asked to pay attention to generatingjobs for locals and boosting close ties with the locality.
He said local authorities will accompany andcreate the optimal conditions for businesses as well as support them with landclearance and compensation.
Enterprises are encouraged to invest inrenewable energy, he added.
Deputy Director of the provincial Department ofPlanning and Investment Truong Xuan Vy raised the fact that 41 firms were setup in May 2018, raising the total number of newly-established businesses inNinh Thuan in the first five months of this year to 197, with total investmentof over 5.2 trillion VND (228.2 million USD), up 12.6 percent in number and 2.1times in registered capital.
So far, the province has counted 15 wind powerprojects and 27 solar power ones with designed capacity of nearly 800 MW andover 1,808 MW, respectively.
The Prime Minister and the Ministry of Industryand Trade had agreed to include these projects into the national powerdevelopment scheme.
Ninh Thuan is a typically hot and dryarea in the south central part of Vietnam. It is less affected by storms thanother areas in the country, and has become known as the renewable energy centrein Vietnam.

The province is finalising a masterplan for solar energy from 2016 to 2020 with a vision to 2030, which aims togenerate some 2,000MW of electricity by 2020.-VNA
The construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 50 MW kicked off in Phuoc Dinh commune of Thuan Nam district, the south central province of Ninh Thuan, on March 31.
