The first batches of goods were delivered along this route right on the opening day. They were 300 containers with 5,400 tonnes of cassava starch of the Vedan Vietnam Enterprise Corp. Ltd transported from Vung Ang through Hai Phong to a port in China. Vung Ang port consists of two wharfs at present. The VLP is building the third wharf at a cost of nearly 1 trillion VND (44.8 million USD). The new facility is able to handle ships of up to 45,000 DWT and container ships of 4,000 TEU. The VLP is also buying specialised cranes and other equipment, and providing a variety of logistics services.-VNA
