New chairperson appointed for National Commission for UNESCO

Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc has been named the new Chairman of the Vietnam National Commission for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), replacing Dang Hoang Giang.

Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc hasbeen named the new Chairman of the Vietnam National Commission for UnitedNations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), replacing DangHoang Giang.

On May 9, permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minhsigned a decision approving the appointment.

The commission has been tasked with studying and makingproposals to the Prime Minister regarding Vietnam's directions, policies,programmes and operation plans within the framework of cooperation withUNESCO. It represents Vietnam in the relations with UNESCO, regional UNESCOoffices, and UNESCO member countries on related issues.

The commission has five sub-commission on education, culture,information, natural science, and social science./.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
