National week for disaster prevention and control to be launched

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has decided to designate May 15-25 as the national week for natural disaster prevention and control.

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has decided to designate May 15-25as the national week for natural disaster prevention and control.

The week aims toraise public awareness of the efforts to build a society resilient to naturaldisasters for sustainable development.

The PM requiredthat activities during the week must be in line with the law, practical,effective and cost-saving.

The Central SteeringCommittee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control will set annual themesfor the week and instruct ministries, agencies, people’s committees of citiesand provinces to hold activities in response to the event.

They are alsoassigned to earmark State budget and other expenditures for the effort.-VNA

Under the directive, the PM instructed relevant agencies to regularly inspect, supervise and proactively implement disaster prevention, response and rescue measures in line with their assigned roles and mandates, ensuring readiness, avoiding passivity or delays, and maintaining operational continuity amid ongoing political and administrative restructuring at levels.

Vietn🐻am ramps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, ไtreatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
