National Tourism Year 2019 to open in Khanh Hoa

Hanoi (VNA) –“Colour of the Sea” has been chosen as theme of the 2019 National Tourism Yearin Nha Trang city, the central province of Khanh Hoa which is scheduled forDecember 31, 2018 – December 31, 2019. 

The opening ceremony will be concurrent with theNha Trang – Khanh Hoa sea festival slated for May 2019. 

During the year, 13 activities will be jointly organisedby the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, ministries and agencies, 50others by Khanh Hoa province and 35 ones by 14 cities and provinces, it wasannounced during a press conference in Hanoi on November 30. 

Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincialPeople’s Committee Tran Son Hai said the event will popularise the potential ofsea and island tourism in Nha Trang Bay, affording coastal cities and provincesa chance to introduce their economic, cultural and tourism strengths. 

This year, Khanh Hoa is expected to welcome over6.3 million tourists, up 15 percent annually, including about 3 millionforeigners. The tourism revenue is estimated at over 20.5 trillion VND (891.3million USD). 

Among hundreds of activities during the year,the sea tourism festival 2019, the third conference on central coastal region development,a triathlon competition, and Miss Universe Vietnam 2019 are highlights. 

Next year, Khanh Hoa set the goal of welcomingmore than 7 million visitors, including over 3 million foreigners. 

Khanh Hoa is now the leading destination for seaand island tourism with 690 lodging facilities and modern road, railway,aviation and waterway infrastructure. More than 20 carriers are operating inCam Ranh international airport with many direct flights.-VNA
